A “scared” Brendan Fevola has likened himself to “Rocky” while confirming he will make his boxing debut in October, but is yet to lock in an opponent.
Despite having no boxing experience, Fevola said it was the purse not the prospect of getting punched that saw him sign the deal.
Fevola revealed on his Fox FM radio show on Friday that his fiance Alex did not think he should be getting in the ring.
“I don’t think I should either but geez, I’ll tell you what, the purse is nice,” he said.
“I am fighting on October 3, I think it is at Rod Laver Arena.
“I can’t fight so this is going to be awesome fun. I’ve got ages to prepare. It is going to be full on training and I have to trim down a little bit so I am going to be full like Rocky. ”
“I actually don’t know who I am fighting. I was supposed to fight Cam Mooney, big cat.”
Fevola is now waiting to hear who his celebrity ex-footy player opponent will be.
“I am actually pretty scared because I have never fought before,” he told his radio audience.
“It is something I thought I would never do and I’ve watched people who fight and to get in the ring you’ve got some balls because you know you are going to get hit.
“So I’m fighting October 3. October 4 (I) might need the day off. I will either be in hospital knocked out or drunk because I won.”
