Neighbours star Bonnie Anderson says this was the year she grew up.
Anderson, 25, endured some careers highs but personal lows which culminated in a court appearance for covering up for an ex-boyfriend involved in a traffic incident.
She said the year had taught her a lot.
“This year has had so many positives and so many learning curves, as well as a few spanners that have been thrown in the works,” Anderson said.
“I have grown more and learnt more than I have in any other year.
“I have learnt so much, not just about life, but also love.
“I have not just gone through things, I have grown through things. I have learnt a lot about thinking before doing things and taking your time, being more rational and realising what I have now is great.”
Anderson, who plays Bea Nilsson on Neighbours, said being cast on the iconic soap helped her realise her self-worth.
“Every now and then I had times where I think I forgot about my worth,” she said.
“I doubted myself for a good few years and to be honest Neighbours was the best thing that ever happened to me because it really gave me back that sense of self worth.
“Neighbours gave me a platform, it gave me a structure each week and it gave me something to hold on to and made me strive for higher goals.”
Anderson said was determined to be a good role model for young women.
“I want to be somebody that can give good advice about growing up,” she said.
“I want to be able to teach people just because you have made a mistake or gone through a certain bump in your life, because everyone does, no matter what you can overcome these times and you can still make goals and achieve them.”
She said she was planning to make every moment count in 2020.
“2020 it sounds like a good number to me. I feel like it has something exciting to offer and I feel like I have something great to offer,” she said.
“I really want to put out more music, do more acting, and challenge myself to the max. I am 100 per cent happy and I feel very lucky and very grateful and I can’t wait for what the New Year will bring.”
