The Farnham family is celebrating, with happy news bringing joy to the famously private Melbourne musical clan.
Rob Farnham, the eldest son of hit-maker John and his wife Jill, announced his engagement to his longtime partner Melissa Kelly on Tuesday.
“My best friend and love of my life said yes to marrying me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” Rob posted on Instagram along with pictures of the couple post-proposal.
The Farnham’s have been through a tough few months after John had surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his mouth.
Part of his jaw was removed during the marathon surgery in Melbourne.
The news of his health crisis rocked the Australian entertainment industry, coming just months after the sudden passing of his manager Glenn Wheatley.
Rob is the lead singer in the alternative rock band Rival Fire.
The band was the support act for KISS during the US rockers’ recent Australian tour.
The couple were deluged with well-wishes and congratulations after announcing their happy news.
“Congratulations to both of ya!!!”, wrote Rob’s brother James.
“Wonderful news,” posted Rhonda Burchmore.
“Massive congratulations guys! So happy for you both,” wrote Kate Gudinski.
“Huge congratulations,” posted Travis Cloke.
