Bachelor Locky Gilbert has described his ex-girlfriends who have spilt the beans on their breakups with him as just wanting “their time in the sun.”
Gilbert, who jumped out of a plane on Friday after seeing what his feisty TV harem got up to when he was out of the room on the first two episodes of the Channel 10 dating show, said he was not hiding from his busy romantic past.
“I do fall in love pretty quickly. It is not like I haven’t been living my life. I have lived a great life, I just have not found the right one (girl),” he said.
“All these girls are coming out, I am not too sure why they are coming out, they just want their time in the sun.
“I have got a past, I can’t hide that, but they feel like they want to come out and give their story; all power to them.
“I wish them all the best. I am sorry it didn’t work out with me and them, but I have clearly moved on and maybe they haven’t.”
Gilbert’s ex and Survivor co-star Brooke Jowlett said she was blindsided when he was announced as The Bachelor while another ex-girlfriend, Jordan Cayless, claimed he cheated on her with a girl in Singapore in a New Idea tell all.
Despite the revelations Gilbert said he was trying to be his own brand of “Prince Charming” on the show.
“I am the rugged caveman kind of guy,” he said.
“I can open a beer with my teeth but I cannot pop a champagne bottle, but I have learned.
“This whole prim and proper lifestyle, it is not really me. I have no idea how to be all this elegant kind of dude. I am just this normal guy who likes having fun.
“I am trying to be a Prince Charming but my own version.”
