Four-time AFL premiership champion Shaun Burgoyne is joining powerful sports broadcaster Fox Footy in 2025.
The respected footy commentator has been part of Channel 7’s footy team but will now bring his expertise and deep knowledge of the game to Fox Footy next year, coinciding with the start of a landmark rights deal signed by the Foxtel Group.
Burgoyne played 407 games for Port Adelaide and Hawthorn in a lauded career that stretched from 2001 to the end of 2021.
He is the first of several ace experts expected to sign with Fox Footy for 2025, bolstering the ranks of Australia’s most incisive, comprehensive and powerful AFL broadcaster.
Next year is shaping as a game changer for footy fans.
For at least the first eight rounds nationally and at least the first 15 rounds in Victoria, the only place fans will be able to watch AFL live on a Saturday will be on Kayo Sports or Foxtel.
Fox Sports managing director Steve Crawley described Burgoyne as footy royalty.
“Shaun is a straight shooter with a trusted opinion and has earned the respect of all football fans,” Crawley said.
“He is football royalty and he wants to work at Fox Footy.”
Burgoyne will take his place at Fox Footy next season alongside other legends including Garry Lyon, Nathan Buckley, Jonathan Brown and Jason Dunstall.
