‘Actually some of Jacinta’s things are starting to give me the s**ts, so Karen may make a comeback’

Jodi Grollo, better known as Karen of Brighton, is considering a comeback after deciding Victoria is still “a bit of a s**tshow” under Premier Jacinta Allan, who replaced her nemesis Dan Andrews.

Jacinta Allan beware, ‘Karen from Brighton’ could be making a comeback.

The famously forthright ‘anti Dan’ Instagram personality – whose real name is Jodi Grollo – became a cult figure during Covid for calling out the restrictive laws that banned exercising outside your suburb, saying: “you get sick of walking the same streets, I’ve done all of Brighton”.

Grollo said Karen was still active and had not ruled out her making a comeback with her political commentary.

Karen, it turns out, has been taking note of the goings on in government and while glad to see the back of Dan Andrews, was ready to give his successor Jacinta Allan some advice.

“Actually some of Jacinta’s things are starting to give me the sh*ts so Karen may make a comeback, you never know,” she said.

“I mean, Victoria is a bit of a sh*tshow isn’t it?”

Grollo’s Karen has been celebrated in a portrait by renowned Melbourne artist and cartoonist, Andrew Fyfe.

Karen is captured in her North Face jacket walking past the Brighton Beach bathing boxes as Kath and Kim’s ‘Prue and Trude’ look on and seagulls, wearing pearls, enjoy a champers.

“Oh my god, I love it, he is the best, I love it,” Grollo said.

“It is so perfectly Brighton.”

Grollo was a guest at the opening of Fyfe’s exhibition Marvellous Melbourne By Fyfe at Sol Gallery in Brunswick on Thursday.

Other guests included Daryl Somers and John Blackman.

Fyfe was for many years the resident cartoonist on Hey Hey It’s Saturday and appeared regularly on The Footy Show.

Grollo revealed she had been pursued by a number of reality TV shows since Karen from Brighton took off, including Survivor, Hunted and Celebrity Big Brother. She declined all approaches.

“They asked me if I wanted to do Survivor and I said, ‘Oh darl, I don’t do dirt’,” she said.
