The fiancee of Western Bulldogs star Lachie Hunter has opened up about her heartbreaking two-year battle with IVF.

Maddison Sullivan-Thorpe detailed her emotional journey in a touching post on social media after going through a fifth round and 149 hormone injections hoping to fall pregnant.

She and Hunter, 25, are due to wed early next year after becoming engaged last year.

“Man this has sucked, sucked so much of my time, energy and emotional capability,’’ Sullivan-Thorpe wrote in the recent post.

“It’s made me face my two greatest fears, constantly feeling weak and helplessly out of control.

“But man it’s made me tough and emotionally I know now nothing can break me.”

She continued: “Motherhood sounds so f … ing magical, I’m sure it is every bit as lovely and brilliant as everyone describes.

“But … I’ve also met and spoken with some pretty happy, loved-up women who for a variety of reasons have not had children; and you know what they seem to have found some pretty darn special magic in their lives too.”

Sullivan-Thorpe said she was finally at peace with whatever the future holds.

“Kids don’t equal happiness and it’s so damn comforting for people like me, crippled by uncertainty to know that.”

She ended the post: “Time to put down the needles and start living my best life.”

Sullivan-Thorpe shared a video last December about her struggles after her third round of IVF and in another emotional post, wrote: “IVF isn’t embarrassing, not every baby comes from the birds and the bees textbook, and while it feels heartbreaking and unfair, it’s life.

“To the women and men who walk this path, I feel so deeply for you — it’s one hell of a fight, physically, emotionally and financially.”

Sullivan-Thorpe’s honesty has resonated with many others, her posts flooded with support and comments.

She spent time away with Hunter in the Queensland hub this year, and in July he took a break from football for personal reasons.

Seven months ago in April he made headlines when he smashed into four parked cars following an alleged drink-driving incident, which led to him standing down from the vice-captaincy and a four-match suspension from the club. He was also fined $5000.

In court earlier this month Hunter pleaded guilty to drink driving, careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident without providing his details.

He was fined $1000 and had his licence suspended for 12 months, however no conviction was recorded.
