“This has been an amazing experience,” the Hazel Glen College student said.

“I’m so happy with what I achieved.

“Thank you everyone back home.”

The 12-year-old said she became close friends with the Serbian contestant while she was competing and was grateful for the experience.

“I’ve learnt that you make a lot of friends that everyone is here,” Jael said.

“It’s so amazing.

“I hope that Australia will win one day.”

Jael’s parents travelled with her to Europe and were with her backstage when she got the news she had placed third.

“You nailed it darling,” her father said.

“This is incredible.”

The year seven student was a source of inspiration and awe for the other students at Hazel Glen College, according to principal Anthony Stockwell.

“There’s a lot of jaw dropping when Jael performs,” he told the Herald Sun.

“She’s an amazing role model, has a beautiful nature and is approachable to all.

“We are extremely proud of her. We think she’s a star.”

Jael followed in the footsteps of previous Aussie entrants Isabella Clarke, Alexa Curtis and Bella Paige.

Her impressive performance will be aired on ABC ME at 6pm tonight (Monday).

She was chosen to represent Australia after winning the Fast Track Talent Showcase three years running.
