Australian TV treasure Denise Drysdale says her mission is to come back in one piece after heading into the jungle on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
“I don’t think they’re going to try kill me... a 75 year-old in the jungle,’’ she said.
“Don’t get the coffin out. I wouldn’t be doing it if I didn’t feel 100 percent. I’ve got quite a few fears now I am older, I did absolutely everything when I was younger, jumped out of planes and all that. It’s definitely an adventure alright.”
Drysdale, who has given up alcohol ahead of her stint, said she doesn’t want the drama that surrounded last season’s intruder Kerri-Anne Kennerley who quit after being embroiled in a stoush with fellow contestant Domenica Calarco.
“I’m a team player, I just can’t understand why she (KAK) did it,’’ Drysdale said.
“For me, my mindset is I’m not going to moan. If there are any problems I’m just going to walk away. I’m at a lovely stage of life where there’s no drama. I’ve got my dog, my cat, my grandchildren and children. I appreciate what I’ve got. I’ll come home loving it all 100 times more.”
The multiple Gold Logie Award winner said the cast including her former Studio 10 colleague Tristan MacManus, footy legend Peter Daicos, chef Khanh Ong, paralympic sporting great Ellie Cole, American actor Frankie Muniz, ironwoman Candice Warner and celebrity trainer Michelle Bridges, “all seem lovely”.
“I just want to get through without hurting myself,’’ she said.
“I’ve had a few injuries over the years and I am feeling really good now.
“I’ve said no every other time they asked.
“One of the reasons that I didn’t want to do it, and I’ve got a different mindset now, I didn’t want to go and do those challenges where they eat all that muck because I would feel so guilty going back into the camp with no food. I am trying to steel my mind to think that everything I eat is chicken and everything in the hole is full of kittens.”
