Domenica Calarco reveals one thing that’d make her quit I’m A Celeb

Outspoken MAFS alum Dom Calarco is heading into the jungle – but she says the arrival of one person would make her immediately quit the show.

Married At First Sight star Domenica Calarco is about to get back on screens – as a contestant on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here.

And Dom, who was at the centre of an OnlyFans ‘scandal’ during her tumultuous time on MAFS in 2022, said she was eager to use her time in the jungle to tell her story in her own words.

“I did love my MAFS experience, but it was tainted by a few things,” Calarco told news.com.au in South Africa, the day before entering the jungle. “I definitely have scars from doing MAFS.”

“I do think people don’t know the real story, and exactly how it made me feel. Something that was so private, just being rolled out to the world and everyone having all of these opinions automatically on me. So being able to get into the jungle and just be completely raw, vulnerable, open up about my story and really how it made me feel, I think Australia’s going to see me in a real different light,” she said.

After all the salacious headlines generated by MAFS, though, Calarco said she was excited to return to make her reality TV return on a show lighter on scandal – and with a much shorter turnaround time, leaving pesky producers less time to confect drama.

“I’m actually excited about that fact that it’s completely unfiltered, unedited. They don’t have time to manipulate storylines and whatever. So that’s something that really excites me about the show, actually.”

Dom insisted she wasn’t too nervous about any of the challenges she might face in the jungle – she said her game-plan if she has to handle snakes is to pretend they’re just lollies – but revealed the one thing would have her quit the show.

Take note, producers: Dom has vowed to yell “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here” if you dare bring in her old MAFS foe, Olivia Frazer.

“That would be completely uncomfortable and I would hate it … I’d probably have to say the words. Honestly, I wouldn’t put myself in that situation again. That’s something I would never do.”

Always outspoken, Dom insisted she has what it takes to win I’m A Celeb – “I’m a competitive bitch” – but that cockiness turned into tears as she explained exactly why it’s so important to her to try and win the show.

She’s playing for the charity Leukaemia Foundation – a cause very close to her heart, having lost her uncle to a rare form of blood cancer five years ago.

“For me, this money means not only being able to help people who are just starting on their leukaemia journey, but also for that extra research into that drug that could potentially one day actually save people’s lives. So it means a lot, and I’m going there and I’m going to bring that money home for my uncle.”

Domenica will join former Australian Idol judge Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, also announced today, on the show tonight. Radio host Woody Whitelaw was the first celeb to be publicly announced this week, while former Home And Away and Please Like Me actress Debra Lawrance has also been announced ahead of tonight’s premiere.

The season premiere of I’m A Celeb airs 7:30pm tonight on Ten.

Nick Bond travelled to South Africa as a guest of Ten.
