With cricket bat in hand, crazy-eyed stare and a lumberjack twist on acceptable boardroom attire, this is the closest Mick Molloy will get to a PowerPoint presentation or TED Talk.
Molloy suited up, kind of, for a high-powered showdown with Cricket Australia boss, Kevin Roberts, in East Melbourne.
Details of the secret talks are under strict embargo until the first of Channel 7’s The Front Bar cricket specials, co-hosted by Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher, airs on Thursday night.
Molloy told Confidential: “I don’t think Kevin was quite ready for my dynamic presentation. “He had that same look on his face as Mike Gatting after being bowled by Warnie’s ball of the century.”
A briefcase from Rafferty’s Rules and a glass of “water” also featured in Molloy’s hard-hitting meeting with Roberts.
Insiders described Molloy’s tough cross examination style as Jack Nicholson meets Jack Daniels.
“I think Kevin was impressed with my blue flannie jacket,” Molloy added.
“Don’t be surprised if the green Australian team blazer gets replaced.”
