Western Bulldogs star Bailey Smith is off the market.
The gun footballer, the most followed player on Instagram, is dating stunning brunette Gemma Dawkins.
The young and private couple stepped out together at the Grand Prix last month but don’t expect them to be the next socialite couple with neither craving attention or even posting each other on Instagram.
Smith, 21, has become a Gen Z idol with his trademark mullet and six pack, and is up in lights on billboards around town after signing a lucrative deal as the first menswear ambassador for Australian brand Cotton On.
Just last week he joked about his girlfriend’s dad noticing the eye-catching pictures showing his chiselled physique.
“It’s funny. My girlfriend’s dad drives past it every day,’’ Smith told Code.
“It’s hilarious … It’s interesting but I don’t pay too much attention to it. I try not to. I just focus on my footy, because that’s what comes first, and all those other rewards with Cotton On and Monster come after that.
“As long as I keep trying to perform and work hard during the week all those other fruits and exciting things come.”
As Smith’s popularity has skyrocketed he’s continued to stay grounded despite gathering more than 366,000 followers on Instagram.
He starred in the finals series last year before the Bulldogs played in the grand final and lost to Melbourne.
During a podcast chat in October he spoke about the spotlight, his struggles with mental health and the nude picture of him that was going viral on grand final day. He set the record straight that it was fake and photoshopped, and also revealed he’d been offered $50,000 to sleep with someone.
“I don’t open up that much because I’m scared of being judged and it’s just something that’s got to do with me,’’ he told the Common Chaos podcast.
“Fear of just being taken advantage of, as well. You can’t just open up to anyone.”
