It sounds like the new series of SAS Australia was an eye-watering and physically taxing experience. And like Roxy Jacenko last year, it appears that socialite Brynne Edelsten doesn’t last long before quitting. Although she hangs on for dear life to a helicopter in the first-look promo, she does plunge into icy waters.
It got us thinking of the stars who have previously bailed on reality TV.
BROOKE BLURTON
The current Bachelorette was down to the final three with the Honey Badger on The Bachelor when just as he was set to choose his final two, she walked out in a panic. Later she confessed to feeling that Nick Cummins wasn’t on the same page as her — which proved to be a good call given he didn’t choose anyone.
KEIRA MAGUIRE
After stirring the pot and becoming the villain on Bachelor In Paradise in 2020, Keira decided to quit the show, which forced love interest Alex to do the same. It came after she made a shock exit from The Bachelor in 2016 when vying for the love of Richie Strahan.
LAURINA FLEURE
After her famous Dirty Street Pie line on The Bachelor, Laurina continued her search for love on Bachelor in Paradise in 2018. But it didn’t all go to plan, with her shock departure not actually aired on TV. In a tweet, Network 10 confirmed: “It’s all become too much for Laurina, and she’s decided to leave Paradise. We wish you all the best”.
BERNARD TOMIC
The tennis bad boy became the first contestant to quit the jungle when he walked out of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! in 2018. Co-host Chris Brown said: “Bernard Tomic is out. We can confirm after a very difficult couple of days Bernard Tomic has made the even more difficult decision to quit the jungle”.
ANTHONY MUNDINE
In the same season of I’m a Celebrity, the controversial boxer also left the jungle after two weeks. It seemed to come after an apparent row with frenemy Danny Green, but he said it wasn’t about quitting, it was just that his children needed him.
SCHAPELLE CORBY
It was an emotional exit for Schapelle when she quit SAS Australia after two days. The convicted drug smuggler, who had become a fan favourite, said she chose to go on the show as part of her healing, but the brutal conditions were too much.
