Time On: Kane Cornes is footy media’s most in-demand figure

He has more hot takes than the MCG has hot pies and it’s made him the most in-demand figure in footy media, with the game’s two main broadcasters said to be interested in his services.

Time On is your wrap-up of all the footy media gossip and banter.

Kane Cornes is footy media’s hottest property.

The polarising commentator is being courted by several organisations for his services with current employer, Channel 9, facing a fight to retain him next year.

Cornes is believed to be high on the wanted list of Fox Footy and Channel 7 and if the SEN radio host does indeed depart Nine it would be a big shake-up of personalities.

In season 2024, Cornes appears as a panellist on the Sunday Footy Show and Footy Classified on Monday nights.

Channel 9 is facing a fight to retain him for season 2025 and beyond.

Cornes’ Channel 9 colleague Nathan Brown confirmed there’d been some interest.

“Everybody wants a piece of Kane Cornes at the moment,” Brown said on Triple M’s Friday Huddle.

“We’re desperately trying to hang on to him on the Sunday Footy Show because Fox are into him. Fox want him.

“And now that Lewis Martin’s not at Channel 7, I’ve heard Channel 7 wants him because I don’t think Lewis wanted him there from a few things that may have happened.”

Cornes has hit the headlines this year, namely for mocking Trent Cotchin’s social media appearance for Seven, a Triple M radio stoush with Luke Darcy and most recently his criticism of Collingwood captain Darcy Moore.

Ginnivan still tormenting Pies

Hawthorn livewire Jack Ginnivan was still on a roll on Sunday after his antics against his old side on Saturday.

Not content with a best on ground performance, Ginnivan couldn’t resist responding to Channel 9 presenter Jo Hall who was scathing about his behaviour towards the Magpies players and fans in a post on X.

Hall posted: “What a smart arse Jack Ginnivan is. We were beaten by a way better team. But his behaviour is disgraceful”.

She later shared a message on her Instagram Stories with a photo of her viewing spot from inside the venue.

“If I could describe my worst nightmare, it would be this,” she posted.

Ginnivan responded to Hall’s tweet on Sunday afternoon:

Ginnivan riled many with his celebrations which included a sleep tight celebration towards the Collingwood cheer squad late in the last quarter.

Many were also supportive of Ginnivan’s personality coming through.

Cameron Ling said on ABC Radio:

“Fun, disrespectful or fair enough? They got rid of him and they have to cop it on the chin. You can boo him as much as you like, but you moved him on.”

Blue movie night

Carlton is flying high on field and is ready to host the premiere of the 1970 Grand Final documentary, 1970 The Final Story, a film by Peter Dickson.

Many big names are expected to be in attendance at the end of this month.

The famous match between Carlton and Collingwood featured the mark by Blues legend Alex Jesaulenko which is etched in footy folklore after the commentary of “Jesaulenko, you beauty”.
