Michael Clarke and Arabella Sherborne
The affectionate pair were spotted together in June on the Gold Coast and have made no secret of their love in recent times. They stepped out at the Melbourne Cup Carnival in November with Clarke gushing over his new brunette beauty. They went Instagram official in July and are appearing regularly on each others’ pages.
Jordan De Goey and Aisha Jade McKinnon
Collingwood’s premiership midfielder was first seen with the former Big Brother star at the club’s best and fairest night in October. The pair had already been dating for a few months after meeting the new age way – over Instagram. They have now bought a farm together with designer and influencer McKinnon saying he’s a lovely guy and a far cry from his bad boy reputation.
Andy Karl and Elise McCann
The theatre world was rocked in May to learn that the Broadway and West End leading man had split from his wife Orfeh after 23 years of marriage. Karl’s break-up made headlines in Page Six with the Groundhog Day star rumoured to be dating co-star Elise McCann. In July in Melbourne, Karl confirmed his romantic relationship with the Australian actor, saying “we’re living life and being very happy together”.
Abbie Chatfield and Adam Hyde
Although they first crossed paths in 2002, it wasn’t until June that the celebrity pair officially hard launched. Podcaster Chatfield and her Peking Duk musician beau are the definition of loved-up and aren’t afraid to flaunt their affections. Chatfield said was crying “every day” because of how happy she was in her new relationship.
Ada Nicodemou and James Stewart
The Home and Away stars’ love story began on screen, like so many do. But the pair went on to form a real life relationship which reportedly began in April. They were both fresh out of relationships with many shocked by the news. In November Nicodemou said: “Jimmy and I are together, yes. It’s only early days. It’s very recent and very unexpected. I’m super happy. It’s really lovely.”
Sophie Cachia and Maddy Prespakis
After keeping the romance quiet, businesswoman Cachia has made several declarations of love since speaking about her new relationship with the AFLW star in Stellar at the start of November. Cachia is expecting her third child – she has two children from her marriage to Jarryd Cachia – and has more than 250,000 Instagram followers. She posted a series of pictures of her and Prespakis in December with the caption: “it was always you”.
Hannah Orval and Matrick Murtagh
Gold Coast influencer Orval debuted her new relationship with rising American football star Patrick Murtagh in September. The pair’s romance has since gone from strength to strength and they now live together in the US. Orval is the daughter of viral internet sensation Angry Dad and sister to controversial YouTuber Mitchell Orval. Murtagh is a professional NFL player for the Jacksonville Jaguars and was originally from Queensland, making the move in early 2023 to the US.
Demi Brereton and Jy Simpkin
In June news emerged the AFL’s “it” couple had called it quits. The North Melbourne co-captain and his model partner had been together for two years and were said to have split amicably.
Demi is a former Fashions on the Field winner and Melbourne Cup Carnival ambassador. Three months later Simpkin debuted new girlfriend Chloe Wheatland at his club’s best and fairest night.
Hannah Dal Sasso and Thanasi Kokkinakis
The tennis ace and the model and influencer quietly parted ways after 18 months together. They’d travelled the world and had been snapped at Wimbledon and in some parts of the US. Their relationship had its ups and downs, largely due to distance and some odd moments, but they appeared to be on very good terms during the Melbourne Cup Carnival when they spent time together in a birdcage marquee.
Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen
The actors revealed their split after 14 years of marriage by sharing what some described as a bizarre tennis-themed announcement on social media. The Borat star, 52, and the Australian actor, 48, were posing in matching tennis outfits in the post: “After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritised our privacy and have been quietly working through this change.
“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz
In October multiple sources confirmed that Kravitz, 35, and Tatum, 44, had called off their engagement and gone their separate ways after three years of dating. The split was said to be amicable, with the news coming roughly two months after Blink Twice, the movie the pair met on – and Kravitz’s first film as a director – was released.
Moana Hope and Maria Thattil
Although there’s been no official confirmation, it’s believed the love bubble recently burst between the beauty queen and the former AFLW player. Many followers were leaving comments on Hope’s posts asking where Thattil was and there was no sign of one another during Christmas celebrations. It was only in June that Neighbours actor Thattil was gushing over Hope, a mum of two with her ex-wife Isabella Carlstrom, as the love of her life.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
The unlucky-in-love JLo filed for divorce from Affleck in August after months of speculation that they had split. She listed April 26, 2024 as the date of their separation, marking a final sad end to the on-again off-again relationship. Once co-stars, the pair originally dated from 2002 to 2004, got back together in July 2021, and wed a year later. Affleck has since been hanging out a lot with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
