CRAWFORD REVEALS OFFERS TO LURE HIM FROM THE HAWKS
“Mum and Dad were together until I was five and then mum and dad had issues and mum felt like she needed to pack us all up and go,’’ said Crawford who has four sons with partner Olivia Anderson.
“My dad had a drinking problem and mum brought us up. He was allowed to visit and he would only sparingly be involved in our lives. But to be honest every time that we did do things with him I loved it.
“I had nothing but love for my dad but he just wasn’t in our life. Mum was mum and dad. She worked her butt off.”
Crawford said his Dad suffered from cancer and died at the age of 43, when he was 17.
“He was alive when I was drafted which was nice, so he knew that I might have a career,’’ Crawford said.
“He obviously never … he didn’t get to see me play, however, he came to school when I was playing cricket in year 12 and he hung out for the day when he was really sick.
“When he only had maybe a month to live. And we had a great day and then he died.
“And he only had a couple of days to live and they were begging for me to go and see him and I couldn’t. Because I knew he was like 38 kgs and I didn’t want that to be my lasting memory.”
