Broadcaster Seb Costello is set to make his pro-wrestling debut on election night.
Costello, the Nine News and Triple M Hot Breakfast star, will team up with Slex to fight Gino Gambino and Sebastian Walker as part of a Melbourne City Wrestling event at the Thornbury Theatre on May 18.
Costello, Nine’s former European bureau correspondent, has been secretly training in Thomastown for his debut.

“It’s a long way from the lawn at Windsor Castle covering the royal wedding to a secret warehouse in Thomastown with a rickety old ring learning the ins and outs of wrestling, but I love it,” Costello, pictured standing over Walker, told Confidential.
“It’s painful work, and you have to keep your wits about you. I had a 140kg Lebanese giant turn me into Lebanese flatbread last month. It’s all very physical.”
Seb, who is the son of former Federal Treasurer Peter Costello, is yet to decide on a wrestler name and signature move.
“My dad was pretty good at surpluses, I’m good at suplexes,” Seb said. “(Hot Breakfast) co-host Eddie (McGuire) has been teaching a move called ‘Welcome To Broadmeadows.’ Someone else suggested my signature moved should be: ‘Run!’”
Costello, a longtime wrestling fan, had a casual role as an MCW announcer, but was coerced into the ring by the taunts of rival fighters.
Asked what his parents think of his savage new side hustle, Costello laughed: “I said to dad: ‘If you want to see a real contest on May 18, come to the Thornbury Theatre!’”
