Samuel Johnson’s sister Hilde Hinton has shared the first glimpses of the actor as he continues to recover from being hit by a car last month.
Hinton posted two pictures of Johnson’s hands and feet after she gave a detailed update last week following the accident, in which he suffered injuries to his head.
“No words,” she captioned the post of the Gold Logie winner’s hands which were covered in cuts and scabs.
She also posted a picture of Johnson’s bare feet on Sunday with a Melbourne view, which she captioned: “Recovery time”.
The two pictures were flooded with well wishes.
Last week, she wrote he faced a few more weeks in hospital.
In the update shared to the Love Your Sister charity Facebook page, Hinton said: “All the phone calls in the world aren’t the same as being able to touch his actual face. I couldn’t help it, I cried.
She added that he wanted to thank the doctors, the nurses and the ward staff for all the “wonderful care he’s receiving”.
“They reckon he’ll be out of hospital in a couple of weeks, so I’ll hand him back our Facebook page … and let him do the next update.”
Hilde first broke the news of the accident via the Facebook page on June 21, saying he was hit by a car while on his way to visit family.
“I wish I didn’t have to tell you this,” she wrote.
“Early Saturday night Sam was on his way to visit family when he was accidentally hit by a car. Our ambos got him picked up and tucked away safely in hospital in record time. I followed them in.
“The fantastical medical staff are in overdrive taking care of his sore head. He’s awake and not too happy that he doesn’t have his pants – nobody loves a hospital gown.
“Hearing his voice is lovely, but can’t wait for hugs when it’s safe.”
Johnson started the Love Your Sister cancer charity with his late sister Connie in 2012.
She passed away in September 2017 at the age of 40.
He was crowned Victoria’s 2018 Australian of the Year for his fundraising efforts – raising more than $13m through the charity.
