Sam Newman patches up podcast feud with Rod Law

Former Footy Show host Sam Newman says he has gone into “grovelling mode” to repair a relationship with a podcast colleague.

Sam Newman's most controversial moments: 'you are nothing more than political whores'

Sam Newman and Don Scott have buried the hatchet with their disgruntled colleague Rod Law and hope to welcome him back to the You Cannot be Serious podcast next week.

Law helped produce the popular show but decided to step away after disagreeing with Newman’s decision to have ex AFL player Nick Stevens as a guest.

“We had a bit of a lover’s tiff,’’ Newman said.

“I get on very well with Rod but Rod got his nose out of joint about a choice of interview subject and I made light of that which he took exception to.

“We’ve patched it up and offered him the peace pipe. Hopefully he’ll be back in town and we can coax him back in the studio.”

Newman said Law had also taken offence to being called a panel operator.

“But Don and I are so dumb and didn’t know how to turn on a computer and I made the fatal error of calling him a panel operator, and he thought that was beneath him,’’ Newman said.

“I’ve gone back to grovelling mode. I think Don is the jinx in the whole thing to be honest.

“He is the antagonistic flavour in this.

“But we are happy to have him back, it’s a work in progress. I’ve got to get Don across the line but Don and he are probably two of the most distant people I’ve ever met.

“Whenever he’s ready he’s welcome to come back.”

Newman called Law on the podcast on Wednesday with the intention to “break the ice”.

Sydney breakfast radio king Ben Fordham had offered to act as mediator between the trio.

Law joked he had a new job — he was moving to Sydney to be a co-host with Fordham.

“I don’t set the agenda, you set the agenda, Don disrupts it and I used to try to make sense of it,’’ Law said.
