Sam Newman is considering joining the race to be Melbourne’s Lord Mayor.
The former Footy Show co-host said he had been sounded out about a Town Hall run ahead of elections taking place in October.
“I’m considering, considering it,’’ Newman told the Herald Sun.
“I had someone ask me from an official position, who is part of the Liberal government. Never rule out anything.”
Newman had previously put his hand up in 2018 but withdrew because he was overseas at the US Masters at the time nominations for the job open and close.
It was nominations for the by-election to replace former Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, who had resigned over sexual harassment allegations.
Current Lord Mayor Sally Capp is already facing some tough challenges from other candidates.
Newman, 74, earlier told his You Cannot Be Serious podcast that he wasn’t a yes or a no.
“I haven’t decided Don,” he told co-host Don Scott.
“I was asked would I stand again.
“It’s not a yes or a no.”
Newman said he had some genuine interests in the position.
“I had five things I was interested in last time when I legitimately stood,’’ he said.
“One was graffiti, one was homeless, one was speed limits, one was security and the other one was bicycle, city and the traffic.”
