Billy Brownless has told how he teared up at his daughter Ruby’s wedding on Friday in Noosa.
The Geelong footy great walked his youngest daughter down the aisle as she married Josh Wallis, surrounded by family and friends.
“It’s good to get emotional, you blokes should try it at some stage,’’ Brownless said after ringing in to his Triple M Saturday Rub colleagues.
“Just showed how much she meant to me. Where we were was magnificent, the setting was great and everyone had a great day.”
Brownless said he delivered a poem and also had some trouble with his shoes.
Ruby and Josh, who got engaged in December 2022 on Hayman Island, put on a few days worth of celebrations.
Brownless and his ex-wife Nicky share four children and both have moved on with new relationships.
Brownless’ partner Crystle Fleur posted a picture of the couple with a red love heart, while Nicky is engaged to Fox Footy broadcaster Garry Lyon.
“I’ve had a couple of limoncellos,’’ Billy admitted.
“When your daughters get married, it’s very from the heart.
“I just walked Ruby down the aisle, magnificent and everyone (was) emotional and I was limping along and nearly tripped. (I said) Roses are red, violets are blue, I love you from here to Timbuktu.”
Wallis is the brother of former Western Bulldogs star Mitch Wallis and their dad is former Bulldogs star Stephen Wallis.
US country singer Zach Bryan was also a guest as the new partner of Ruby’s close friend Hannah Duncan. He posted on a picture of himself wearing a black tie suit: “Gonna delete 30 beers”.
“All I can say is thank god for the Wallis’ who have helped me out very well (with the cost),’’ Billy said.
“They’ve been fantastic, we thought we’d split it down the middle which is only fair and thank god for that.”
