Yesterday Williams said he never considered cancelling his Melbourne performance over coronavirus fears.
Williams was due to perform at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday night and visit the arena after meeting Aussie F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo in the paddock at Albert Park.
“Well I don’t know because you don’t know what to believe, what not to believe, and I’m from Stoke country so I’m going to turn up,” he said.
“I’ll be turning up. I really want to come to Australia when I can and I’ve been looking forward to this for months.
“I’m looking forward to the gig. Love an Aussie audience, didn’t want to let people down.
“I’ve got my hand sanitiser ready.”
Asked if he would encourage others to keep travelling, Williams said:
“I’m not the health board, I’m just some d---head from Stoke country – what the F would I know. You know what I mean. I’d encourage people to do what they want to until everyone is told not to, then don’t.”
Williams was given a tour of the Renault garage by Ricciardo, who he called a great bloke.
“What a great bloke he is, I really, really like him,” Williams said.
“He’s really personable, he’s a cool dude.”
“He’s such a sweetheart so now he’s my new best friend and I’m rooting for him.”
Miley Cyrus was due to perform tomorrow night but pulled out over health fears.
He said he will play golf, heading to Royal Melbourne Golf Club today, and then heads home on Sunday.
He just became a father to his fourth child, Beau.
“Beau is five weeks old, Coco is 14 months old, and then a 7 year old and a five year old, so best they stay at home and go to school,” he said.
“I think my wife wants to quarantine me when I get home, I don’t know what that actually means.”
