Richard Pratt’s granddaughter Georgia Geminder ready to launch her dental care brand in the UK

Entrepreneur Georgia Geminder may come from a famous family but it’s her strong work ethic which has seen her luxury oral care brand go from strength to strength.

Georgia Geminder’s strong work ethic won’t stop when she becomes a mum.

The granddaughter of late billionaire Richard Pratt also has rich listers as parents but she has built her own brand, Gem Oral Care, into a force.

The former model made the Forbes 30 under 30 list last year and is due to give birth in August — but not before launching her brand into the UK in June.

“I’m planning on taking no time off, maybe a couple of weeks when I have the baby,’’ Geminder said.

“Gem is my first baby so I want to make sure the business doesn’t get neglected and I really keep my finger on the pulse with the workings of it. It’s important to have that balance but I don’t know the ways of motherhood yet. I really love working and working with my team.”

Geminder, who married investment director Matthew Danos last October, launched Gem into Woolworths with an event on Thursday night.

Last year she sent out roughly 250 invites to influencers to attend one of her events and only about 30 came: now they’re lining up to team with Gem.

“That was for our electric toothbrush promotion,’’ Geminder said.

“It’s amazing how different social channels really change marketing going forward. TikTok have been revolutionary for us. It’s fun and as a small business we have fun and don’t take things too seriously.

“It took us about a year and a half to get into Woolworths and we’re just delighted to showcase our products and see the reward for all the hard work. At the end of the day we believe everyone should have access to better oral care products.”

Geminder, who has six employees including herself, will launch into a health and beauty retailer in the UK.

“We have a small nimble team and I really feel like we’re at the start of our journey,’’ she said.

“I love the inspiration and the effort behind each element of the business and problem solving.

“It’s our first foray into the international market and we’ll have a big pop up to celebrate.

“It’s such a similar market to Australia. I’ll be 30 weeks then, just on the cusp of being able to travel. I’m having a girl and (pregnancy) has really been a joy.”
