The ABC’s flagship Melbourne radio shows have dramatically fallen in the final ratings survey of the year.
The national broadcaster shed listeners in every timeslot from late September, including during a highly-anticipated state election.
Virginia Trioli’s Mornings show experienced the largest drop of 2.3 per cent, to end with a 7.4 per cent audience share.
This is the show’s worst rating results of the eight surveys conducted in 2022.
Afternoons with Jacinta Parsons slipped by 2.3, Rafael Epstein’s Drive fell by 0.7 and Breakfast with Sammy J dropped by 0.6.
Meanwhile, two high profile pairings on KIIS FM were big winners.
As 3AW extended its dominance, Will and Woody in drive climbed 2.8 to 10.4 per cent, just behind Fox FM’s Carrie and Tommy (10.5) and GOLD FM’s Dave ‘Higgo’ Higgins (12.5).
In breakfast Lauren Phillips and Jase Hawkins made a slight gain to 7.5 – equal third with Nova and another consistent survey.
Overall it was the highest results for KIIS FM since 2004.
Nova’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny finished on December 2 after seven years in breakfast.
The gap is closing on leader Christian O’Connell, the GOLD FM star host who was again on top with 9.9 despite dropping 0.4.
FOX FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick are hot on his tail at 8.4, a pleasing result for the program as they continue to post solid numbers.
Triple M’s Marty Sheargold went down to 5.1 while smoothfm’s Jennifer Hansen and Mike Perso remained steady at 7.2.
3AW breakfast kings Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft rose again to a dominant share of 22.8.
In drive, 3AW’s Tom Elliott also saw a welcome boost, up 1.5 per cent.
SEN suffered a downward turn, with breakfast dropping from 3.1 to 2.5 and mornings down from 3.7 to 2.6.
The GfK radio ratings survey 8 for the year ran between September 25 and December 3.
