Patrick Dangerfield could miss a game against one of the two Adelaide clubs within the next few weeks for the birth of his second child.
The Geelong star is confident it is safe to travel with the side to Adelaide this weekend, but his wife Mardi is due within the next two weeks.
“We are on baby watch,’’ Dangerfield said on radio SEN.
“But I think we’ve probably got another week to go which probably keeps us safe this week against Port Adelaide.”
Dangerfield said the decision on whether to play or not would be taken out of his hands.
“I’ll make this very clear. I don’t have a say whether I play or not, that is purely my wife,’’ he said.
“Travel over to Adelaide and play and then hopefully the baby comes after that which makes it a bit easier obviously with our itinerary after the Port game.
“We’re pretty safe at the moment which is good. Still a little while to go.”
After playing Port at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, Geelong’s next match is a home game against his former club the Adelaide Crows on Friday, June 28.
The Dangerfields’ son George is almost two.

Mardi told Confidential recently that their new arrival would take priority.
“There’s enough of our life planned around the football season so why not pop a baby out too,’’ she said.
“Things like this are bigger than football and if you could avoid (a game) you wouldn’t miss it.”
She said her second pregnancy had been a lot different with a baby to care for.
“It’s so different to the first where you count each day,” she said.
“It’s a bit crazy and you get busy as the weeks go by. Life just keeps getting busier and George is an active little dude.”
