Olympia Valance has been praised as a “goddess warrior” for her brave decision to out herself as the victim of a “traumatising” cyber crime after a secret battle.

Olympia Valance’s mother says her daughter is a “strong Greek goddess warrior” for bravely outing herself as the victim of a cyber crime.
TV star Valance took to Instagram to confirm the leaking of private photographs which has been a battle she’s dealt with for the past year.
“I am writing this as confirmation that I know I have become a victim of cyber crime,’’ she wrote in a lengthy post.
“I have been dealing with this for a over a year now since my phone was compromised by a hacking of private images, which were then published online.
“I have since had to deal with this again recently, when new images were recirculated, retraumatising me and pushing my anxiety into a space it has never been.”
Valance’s mother, Tania Gogos-Wilson, said on social media: “I am so incredibly proud of my strong Greek goddess warrior daughter. This is a shocking crime that has led to many suicides and serious mental health damage.
“I send my love and strength out to every single one of those victims.”
Her step-mother, Kim, who is married to Valance’s father Ryko also congratulated Olympia for her strength.
Kim Valance said on social media: “My beautiful step daughter. Reading this makes my eyes fill with tears yet again for the agony it has caused.
“It absolutely tears me apart that such disgusting smutty little low life thieves exist in this world. My heart is in my throat.
“I hope they pay for this, I hope they’re found, I hope they get the punishment they deserve. I love you and am infinitely proud of you. This will pass. You have done an incredible job of healing and you have our 100 per cent love and support forever.”
Valance, who is the partner of Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers, said she was traumatised by what she called abusive and criminal acts.
“Such offences involve leaking (in my case hacking) images without consent in order to humiliate, degrade, control and blackmail a person,’’ she wrote.
“As a victim of this, I have had to fight to try and contain these images from reaching the broader public and for media not to publish stories using my name.”
The Playing For Keeps star said she would not apologise as she’d done nothing wrong.
“2020 has been challenging for us on every level, and this time has really rocked me. Taking intimate photos for yourself, or to share with a partner is not a shameful thing to do.
“Stealing them and sharing them online without consent is. We should be allowed to embrace our sexuality without fear that someone will take those images and manipulate them for their own gain.”
She continued: “Imagine the level of profound violation if this happened to your daughter, your sister, or to you. I am a public figure, but I am also a human being. I am not immune to these scandals. I hurt and I certainly feel pain.”
Valance called out the perpetrators as shameful and said she hoped by shedding a light on it that it would stop future attacks.
“If I didn’t have my incredibly supportive boyfriend, my loving family, my fierce friends, my lawyers, management, psychologists and the angels at Image Cyber Crime, I know I would have not coped through this,’’ she wrote.
“I have had days where I have been exhausted and where the depths of my sadness have scared both myself and the people I love. I want to be at peace. I am tired trying to fight.”
She said women needed to stand up and take control.
“We have to figure out a way to stand together and say it’s hacking and destruction of illegally obtained images, not the taking of them that is shameful.
“I’m not ashamed. I’m not embarrassed. I will not apologise. I have done nothing wrong.”
