Olympia Valance has paid tribute to her partner Tom Bellchambers after he announced his retirement from footy.
The actor said Bellchambers was the most “humble, down to earth and loyal man” she had ever met. She also referred to him lovingly as “my big boy” and revealed his nickname is Ghandi because he is always there for her and his loved ones.
The pair, who have been dating for almost a year and a half, moved in together shortly after.
“I just want to say a couple of things about @thomas_bellchambers on his well deserved retirement,’’ Valance began her post on Instagram.
“At home, we call you Ghandi. This is because you are always there to help not only myself, your friends and family, but your teammates with wisdom, love and kindness. You are the most humble, down to earth and loyal man I have ever met.
“I mean this on a personal level, but very much on a professional level too. What you’ve done for your club over the past 13 years and the sacrifices you’ve made is truly honourable.
“You pushed through pain, your dedication to your work is admirable and your loyalty during their darkest hours shows what type of human you are and the love you have for your club.
“You’ve created life long friendships, you are a role model, a teacher, a shoulder to lean on and I am beyond proud of all your achievements.
“It’s an understatement to say there are some very big shoes to fill.
“I love you more than anything and I can’t wait to see what our next chapter has in store for us. Congratulations on an incredibly successful career my big boy.”
Valance ended the post with a love heart.
Bellchambers has supported her during her own tough time recently after becoming the victim of a cyber crime.
The pair bought a place together in Daylesford.
He also mentioned Valance in his post announcing the end of his 13 year career at Essendon.
Valance, who starred on footy drama Playing For Keeps, said she never thought she’d end up with her own football player.
“He’s the most beautiful man ever,” she said last year.
“I am loved up. I find it hilarious, but I honestly never thought I would date a footballer — and then I met him, and it was like, ‘Oh my God, you are the biggest legend in the world.”
