Olivia Newton-John’s husband John Easterling says the brave superstar faced her cancer journey with confidence, courage and hope.

“Olivia and I were so fortunate to have access to a broad variety of wellness treatments, life- giving wellness treatments, that undoubtedly extended Olivia’s life and gave her a quality of life that was cheerful and joyful and pain free without using toxic chemicals or addictive painkillers,” Mr Easterling said.

Those treatments included medicinal cannabis, which Newton-John said should be available to patients at Melbourne’s ONJ Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.

She lobbied local politicians strongly on this issue.

“Her dream with the Olivia Newton-John Wellness Centre ... was to have Australians going through cancer, have access to the similar types of treatments,” he said.

Olivia Newton-John, a pop star, movie star and wellness warrior, died from cancer, after living with the disease for 30 years, in August.

Mr Easterling’s comments came ahead of Olivia’s Walk for Wellness at the Alexandra Gardens on October 9 to raise money for programs, treatments and equipment.

“Please donate generously, to keep Olivia’s dream alive. Let’s keep this Wellness Centre thriving. Walk this walk, standing tall with confidence, with courage and with hope, the way

Olivia walked her walk.

“I’ll see you soon in Australia, as a proud Aussie, honouring Olivia.”

Mr Easterling also donated $300,000, on behalf of Newton-John’s estate, and issued a challenge to match the first three donations of $100,000 or more.

“I will personally match that, up to 100,000, for each of those first three (donations),” he said.

Meanwhile, Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi says she will continue her mother’s “life’s work and dream” at the ONJ Centre.

Lattanzi said the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Heidelberg does crucial work by keeping mind and body connected during the healing process.

“This is extremely important,” Lattanzi said. “This was my mum’s life’s work, life’s dream and she really did give her life for it.

“The Wellness Centre is her passion, because my mum had a real way of knowing the connection between mind and body.

“Even as a little girl, if I was upset or I wasn’t feeling well, she would ask me how I was feeling emotionally or if I had gotten any sunlight, or she would play me music. She had a real wisdom, knowing that the mind and body were connected.”

Olivia, a pop star, movie star and wellness warrior, died of cancer in August. She was 73.

Lattanzi said the ONJ Centre offers “art therapy, music therapy ... a lounge where patients who are who are going through cancer together can hang out, get tea and coffee and communicate.”

She added: “There is a garden room, where you can put your feet in the earth. All of these things are essential for healing. My mum knew this and (believed), as do I, this is the most important part of healing.”

“This is something that I want to keep alive. And I want to thank you for keeping it alive.”

Lattanzi’s message comes ahead of Olivia’s walk for wellness at the Alexandra Gardens on October 9, to raise money for programs, treatments and equipment at the ONJ Centre.

Walk tickets are $65 adults, $50 concession, $25 kids 3-17, and $20 dogs. Supporters can also register and walk virtually.

“I will be walking with you,” Lattanzi said. “Thank you so much, Melbourne. I love you, and momma loves you.”

Lattanzi, a singer and actor, 36, and Newton-John’s husband John Easterling will do their walk in LA.
