Olivia Burke, partner of Richmond star Tom Lynch, ode to his positive attitude

Richmond star Tom Lynch has copped plenty of flak for his on-field actions, but partner Olivia Burke is inspired by his positive attitude.

Olivia Burke has praised the positive attitude of her partner, dual premiership Tiger Tom Lynch, for helping him again achieve the ultimate on-field success.

Richmond forward Lynch had become the talk of the footy world after some off-the-ball incidents, but Burke said he wasn’t affected by the negative commentary.

“That was interesting, but I guess you just don’t pay too much attention to outside noise,’’ she said.

“You just concentrate on what people close to you are saying.”

Lynch earned praise after the Tigers’ preliminary final win over Port Adelaide when he comforted a teary young fan in the crowd after a post-match interview.

“Tom called him the next day, he said ‘I’m going to call the young fella from last night’,’’ Burke said.

“The dad was saying the Port Adelaide fans were letting rip at Tom and he said, ‘Dad, the boys are being so mean’ and he came up to Tom to say ‘I’m sorry and good luck for next week’. 

“What a special little kid.”

Burke said Lynch’s positive mindset had also helped her excel.

After being stood down from her job, she launched her own business, a jewellery line called Moins Est Plus — meaning less is more — just days before Richmond won a third flag in four years in October.

“The day of the launch I sat by my computer and dad was beside me and I was texting Tom and I was like, ‘what if no one buys anything and everyone hates it and it’s all hideous’ and Tom was like, ‘what if everyone loves it and someone buys everything’,” Burke said.

“That is why we work so well together. He’s so supportive and looks on the bright side.”

Burke said she had always wanted to create her own brand.

“I thought why not do it and give it a go because I’ve got time,’’ she said of the months spent in Queensland.

“I’d rehearsed it in my head for so long so by the time it came time to action everything it just happened and I’ve done it all myself.

“The website, all the socials, and all the content was shot in my mum and dad’s living room. It’s gone way better than I expected.”
