Taylor Tangas says it is time for Melbourne’s mystery Batman to out himself.
The 26-year-old from South Morang said he only found out Melbourne was abuzz with talk of his sighting a few days ago.
It was at 4.30am on March 31 when FOX FM producer Leon Sjogren captured a picture of him at the corner of Kings Way and City Rd.
“It’s about time Batman was unmasked I’d say,’’ Tangas said.
“I only saw how big it had got when my mum showed me.”
Tangas, a childhood fan of superhero movies, said he made the Batman costume and modelled it on the film with Christian Bale.
“I was into movies big time and was dressing up since I was little,’’ he said.
“It’s a motorbike suit and the mask is an original. I collect a lot of things. I’m just glad to be doing something positive.”
Tangas said now he had stopped work as a concrete operator due to the coronavirus crisis, he would be happy to reprise the character to give people a boost.
“I’d be more than happy to help out at birthday parties or hospitals … as long as I’m not scaring anyone,’’ he said. “It was a little bit of a joke between us all.”
On Fifi, Fev and Byron on Thursday he revealed he had left his phone in the nearby apartment he was staying, and had to ask tradies to help him get back inside.
“They found it hilarious,’’ he said. “I left the bat phone upstairs and had to ask a bunch of tradies across the road if they could help. That was the best bit.”
