Melbourne young gun Kysaiah Pickett has revealed he’s expecting his first child with partner Ardu Cubillo.
The couple shared a heartwarming post to announce the pregnancy, with Pickett cradling her baby bump by the ocean.
“Our next chapter,’’ the couple captioned the pictures with a yellow love heart.
Many of Pickett’s teammates including Max Gawn, Steven May and Bayley Fritsch commented on the post congratulating the forward on his happy news.
Others offering warm wishes to the 22 year-old livewire forward and his partner included Brodie Grundy, Isaac Quaynor, Toby Bedford and Luke Jackson.
It’s more welcome news at the Demons after off-field issues have plagued the club.
Joel Smith, who is currently provisionally suspended after testing positive to cocaine in a sample taken after the Demons win over Hawthorn in round 23, proposed to his partner Elise Carroll last week.
Christian Salem got engaged earlier in the year and captain Gawn is expecting his second child with wife Jess around Christmas time.
Pickett, affectionately nicknamed Kozzy, was recruited from South Australia and has much family in WA.
In an interview with the Herald Sun last year he spoke of the importance of family.
“Family is everything really,’’ he said.
“Every time I get to play across in WA I have plenty of family come to the games. Everything I do is for them — to see a smile on their faces. I do it for my little nephew, my little brothers and my little sisters, all my siblings and cousins. I just want to give them something to be proud about.”
