Megan Gale and Shaun Hampson have announced a career change, taking over as owners of the Dollywood Daylesford hotel.
After a tough year in which her brother died and her business closed due to insurmountable issues, supermodel Gale said she and fiance Hampson were thrilled to be taking charge of their “happy place”.
“Over the past few years we have thoroughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful holiday rental property with our little family, creating some magical memories with our kids along the way,’’ Gale wrote on Instagram.
“It has become a very special “happy place” for us, so to be able to have the opportunity to now own it, is a true blessing.”
Gale said she looked forward to opening the doors to people for special getaways.
“After a very long, tumultuous year for many people, (especially our fellow Victorian residents) to have a place where we can offer a bit of a restful respite to others, is something that we are so pleased to be able to do.”
Former AFL player and Survivor star Hampson said December was already fully booked but to get in early for January.
The couple also owns the trendy Ascot Food and Wine in Moonee Ponds with chef Dave Stewart.
In September, Gale announced her skincare business Mindful Life was closing, two months after the tragic death of her brother, Jason, which she described as the hardest time of her life.
“There’s nothing like the death of someone extremely close to you to make you stop and take stock and make you reassess what you’re doing with your own life and underline the complete importance of how precious life is and how little time we have here,” Gale (inset) said on Instagram.
Mr Gale, 49, was found in bushland southeast of Perth in July after a desperate week-long search by family, friends and police. The circumstances were not deemed suspicious.
