Melbourne captain Max Gawn has been using his time back home to plot the timeline to a premiership.

Gawn is putting together a diary of the good and the bad moments leading up to the Demons’ drought-breaking grand final win in Perth.

“I had nothing to do when I got back, I was just at home and have hardly left my house,’’ Gawn said.

“The position I’m in I take notes around the year. It’s basically my diary, so hopefully it’ll be a good read.”

Gawn, who is expecting his first child with wife Jess in the next week or two, said he couldn’t wait to reconnect with fans.

“That’s the one thing that’s missing so hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll be able to organise something,’’ he said.

“I’ll be happy to have my hands full with Melbourne supporters.”

Gawn, co-owner of East End Wine Bar, is preparing for its reopening. He is also opening a second bar in the new year called Motor.

The book by publisher Hardie Grant Books is set to be a revealing and insightful look at the season, from Gawn’s perspective of the players, coaches and the finals campaign.

“There are so many special people that make the Melbourne footy club what it is. After 57 years, this one was for all of them,’’ Gawn said.
