American Pie Mason Cox is going full Aussie: he’s applying for citizenship and buying an overpriced property.
“I’ve got permanent residency here, and I’m looking to get Australian citizenship,” the Texan-born Magpies star told Confidential yesterday.
“I’m firmly planting my roots here. I’m buying a house, so I’m fully committed.
“This is my life now, and Melbourne is my home, this is my life now. I’ll always have mum, dad and the family back home (in the US). But I’ve also made real friends here.
“I’m proud of myself, to not only physically move somewhere else, but to decide to live my life here.”
Cox is close to buying a home in the eastern suburbs, but almost choked when real estate agents pitched it at between $1.8 and $2.2 million.
“It’s a dingy little place,” he said, laughing. “I was like, what?!”
Cox says he is confident about acing the citizenship test.

“There’s always things I’m getting used to, and things I learn every day about Australia, whether it’s idioms, or sayings, or whatever,” he said.
“I just have to figure out what the national bird is for the citizenship test.”
Meanwhile, Cox, Scott Pendlebury, Taylor Adams, Chris Mayne and Adam Treloar posed up yesterday to celebrate Emirates renewing its sponsorship deal at Collingwood
“It’s good to have them on board,” Cox said.
“It’s probably a sign of where we’re at as a club. We’re doing pretty well, and I think Emirates is happy to sign on again.”
