Former Married At First Sight star Ryan Gallagher has lashed the influencer marketing industry for giving deals to people embroiled in scandals.
While the reality star turned comedian didn’t mention names, he called out McDonald’s for handing out a lucrative sponsorship six months after an identity was involved in a white powder scandal.
Some social media users speculated he was referring to Bulldogs star Bailey Smith.
Smith has been posting videos alongside Melbourne star Christian Petracca for the fast food chain but has had a long-standing deal in place.
In June, video emerged of Smith holding a bag of white powder.
He subsequently apologised and detailed his mental health struggles and was handed a two match suspension.
“This whole industry is just arse-up,” Gallagher wrote on Instagram.
“How someone can go from being caught six months ago doing cocaine to now doing McDonald’s ads? Very very bad role models for children I think maccas has this very wrong.
“If someone doesn’t care enough to realise how lucky they are to be looked up to and be a role model to throw it all away on drugs and are “sorry” that they got caught mean f... all. Pluck a known person who’s done right and reward them not these dipsticks.”
Gallagher and partner, swimming champion Emily Seebohm, stepped out to attend the Australian Open on Monday night with Emirates.
The loved up pair are said to be engaged but have yet to officially confirm the happy news.
