Leading agency Chadwick Models is changing the game, removing measurements from profiles.
After feedback from home and abroad the agency, who represents top models including Adut Akech, Andreja Pejic and sisters Ash and Jess Hart, decided to introduce the new policy for the wellbeing of all models.
Chadwick director Matthew Anderson said the decision was made after he had a chat with a very well-known model who shared some brutal emails from her USA agent a few years ago about her hip measurement.
“We did say how much things had changed, but I just thought ‘enough is enough’ and chatted to the Chadwick team nationally and we all agreed to cut it out,’’ he said.
“We will still have measurements for clients as they often very much need that of course, but our main aim really is to protect privacy and stop people, models and others, obsessively comparing themselves over a couple of centimetres.”
In an email sent to all models, Chadwick states it wants to ease the pressure on body image.
“We understand that having your measurements ready for the world to see has caused a lot of angst with many of you, so we have decided to only publish height and clothing/dress size moving forward.
“We really believe it is time to relieve that pressure off you, plus for any other young person looking at agency sites. You are all gorgeous.”
