Kylie Minogue emotional in her final return to set of Neighbours

Kylie Minogue says Jason Donovan convinced her to return to Ramsay Street to film a farewell to Neighbours and reveals she wanted to say thank you to the beloved soap.

Kylie Minogue has revealed her final return to Neighbours was full of emotion.

Minogue and Jason Donovan reprise their roles as Scott and Charlene, which they confirmed at the start of this month. She said it was Donovan who convinced her to film a farewell to the soap.

“For so long it was just like, well maybe,” Minogue said on the Today Show on Monday.

“I’m still in touch with Jason and Guy (Pearce), Jason is quite a softie I have to say, and Jason said this could be a really nice opportunity to buckle the buckle. As an ex-boyfriend of mine would say, to circle the circle, and say thank you.

“It was lovely, emotional, driving into Ramsay Street was quite something. Firstly where’s all that time gone, secondly everything looks exactly the same, thirdly Scott and Charlene, Jane, Harold, it all came flooding back, there was a lot of talking about memories and going back in time.”

Leaked storylines suggest the ending plays out with Scott and Charlene pulling up in their car and saying “We’re home”.

Executive producer Jason Herbison said in a statement posted to the soap’s official Instagram account on May 1: “Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them.

“We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale. It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I’m sure it will be for our viewers.”

Many other former stars are returning for the show’s end with the last episode to air on August 1.
