Radio host Jase Hawkins has announced the birth of his third son after returning to the airwaves on Monday.
KIIS FM co-host Hawkins and wife Lou welcomed Archer Charles on January 25 after being in a self imposed lockdown to avoid catching Covid.
“If Lou got Covid or I got Covid I wouldn’t have been able to be there for the birth and she would have had to give birth in a Covid ward,’’ Hawkins said on Jase & Lauren in the Morning.
Hawkins also said it felt like the first time being a father again and the family had been in a blissful baby bubble with sons Felix, 8, and Huddy, 6.
“The lack of sleep at the start, I was holding Archie, it was one o’clock in the morning and he’s crying and I’m looking at Lou, she’s running on no sleep and (I said) ‘we’re doing this again’,’’ he told co-host Lauren Phillips.
“That’s what you go through when you’re running on no sleep. Touch wood we’ve got a healthy baby.”
Hawkins said he was amazed by how many people had a crack about it being another boy.
He took extended leave from the show, 10 weeks, to await the birth of Archer.
In October he shared details that they had gone through IVF — it was a bittersweet moment after learning they were pregnant on the same day that Jase found out his Dad Paul’s cancer treatment hadn’t worked.
When they went for the final check ups it was then Hawkins heard his father had passed away.
Hawkins’ baby news coincided with Sydney host Kyle Sandilands announcing he’s expecting his first child with fiance Tegan Kynaston. The station is also set for more baby joy with GOLD FM’s Jack Post expecting his first baby in March and Will McMahon of the Will & Woody Show expecting his first child in May.
