TV legend Kerri-Anne Kennerley is reinventing herself with a stage role.
Dumped from Studio 10 two months ago, the 67 year-old is set to make a career comeback by joining the cast of stage musical Pippin, to open in Sydney next month.
The Logie Hall of Famer fought back tears as she farewelled viewers on Network 10 in August.
Now entertainment reporter Peter Ford says Kennerley has been cast as the role of Grandma Berthe in the dynamic production.
He told The Morning Show on Thursday she had been attending circus school to prepare for the role.
Kennerley is believed to be in a health resort now trying to lose weight ahead of rehearsals for the high flying role.
Kennerley, who has attracted controversy due to her divisive views, said on her final Studio 10 appearance in August:
“It is very tough for a lot of people, but I’ve always worked on a personal level the Charles Darwin theory that says to survive you don’t have to be the most intelligent, you don’t have to be the strongest, but you have to be to survive, the most adaptable. My life theory is that.”
Wearing a ringmaster style cream jacket with gold buttons, she continued: “The reason I am wearing this outfit today is because if you are being run out of town, get in front of the parade or get in front of the crowd and make it look like a parade.
“You just have to suck it up and move on.”
