The shoe was on the other foot as Karl Stefanovic stood in the shadow of his designer wife Jasmine Stefanovic (nee Yarbrough) and her footwear label Mara & Mine.

The couple were among the stylish crowd at a brunch to launch a limited-edition Mara & Mine slipper, a collaboration with design-led hotel collection Ovolo at its Woolloomooloo property, the official hotel partner of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Karl, who was let go from the Today Show in December, said he was happy to play the role of handbag for his wife and her business partner Tamie Ingham, and joked that he had plenty of spare time these days.

Alibi Bar and Kitchen provided the nibbles, which was handy considering how many bottles of Moet & Chandon were downed by merry mums and daughters.

More than 100 pairs of the slippers were handed out to guests, emblazoned with “Ready to wear” and it didn’t take long before guests — including Karl — were strutting around in their comfy kicks.

“Tamie and I started Mara & Mine when we saw an opportunity to create chic, practical footwear for women on the move — so we loved the idea of creating these limited-edition slippers with Ovolo for our fashion week friends after running around all day,” Jasmine said.

“It’s wonderful to have Karl and my mum and sister here to support me and celebrate Mother’s Day.”

Other guests included Richard Wilkins, Christian Wilkins, Abbey Gelmi, Sylvia Jeffreys, Scott Tweedie, Laura Csortan, Aisha Jade and Elisha and Renee Herbert.
