Former footy champion Jimmy Bartel has taken up a new role as the head of football at Caulfield Grammar School.
The Geelong great, who was most recently in a footy director role on the GWS Giants board, started in the position last week, overseeing and mentoring all the football coaches.
In a letter provided by the school, Bartel “presented a comprehensive plan for the future of CGS Football across all year levels and players.”
The letter read: “The Sport Department is confident that the students, coaches and parents will enjoy his overarching philosophy of creating a Club environment for all students and coaches to learn and develop. This approach will underpin all aspects of the program.”
Bartel, a three-time premiership player, Brownlow medallist and Norm Smith Medallist, will continue with his media roles on Channel 9’s Footy Classified and Footy Furnace.
“Along with his decorated playing career at Geelong, Jimmy brings a wealth of insight to all aspects of football,’’ the letter continued.
Another footy legend, Matthew Lloyd, is focusing more on his coaching career with Haileybury College in 2025.
