Jase, Lauren and Clint Stanaway top FM show in Melbourne in latest radio ratings

Jase and Lauren were replaced on KIIS-FM by Sydney’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson. Now they’re having the last laugh in the radio ratings war.

The Melbourne radio trio who were unceremoniously dumped by KIIS-FM to make way for Sydney’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have won the latest ratings survey.

KIIS didn’t renew the contracts of its breakfast hosts Jason Hawkins, Lauren Phillips and Clint Stanaway late last year.

Nova FM snapped them up, while Kyle and Jackie O, with a $200 million pay packet for the next 10 years, took over the KIIS breakfast slot, nationally, earlier this year.

But, so far, Kyle and Jackie O’s Melbourne experiment has not worked.

Indeed, in the latest ratings survey released by GfK, Nova’s breakfast radio program helmed by Hawkins, Phillips and Stanaway, is the No.1FM show in Melbourne.

Nova breakfast scored a 9.9 per cent audience share, putting it ahead of other FM shows at Fox (9.6), Gold (8.3) and Smooth (7.9).

3AW’s dynamic duo, Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft, won the breakfast slot overall with a 21.3 per cent share.

Meanwhile, Kyle and Jackie O floundered in sixth spot, with a 6.1 per cent share in Melbourne.

Hawkins was elated by the result.

“We can’t thank Melbourne enough for the support they’ve shown us, and we don’t take for granted the opportunity to wake up with Australia’s greatest city every morning,” he said.

“None of this is lost on us and we’re bloody proud to be here.”

Phillips added: “We couldn’t be more thankful to the Melburnians who have joined us so far on this crazy ride.”

Meanwhile, SEN’s breakfast show, helmed by Garry Lyon and Tim Watson, dipped to a 4.1 per cent share, down from 5.2 per cent last survey.

Triple M’s temporary breakfast show, co-hosted by Wil Anderson and former footballer Dale Thomas, also dipped to 5.8, down from 6.6 last survey.

3AW drive host Jacqui Felgate enjoyed a slight audience boost with a 8.6 per cent share, up from 7.5 in the last survey.

Fox FM’s drive show with Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little dominated the competition with an 11.1 per cent share.
