Jane Bunn has undergone a slow and steady week-and-a-half haircut so TV viewers wouldn’t freak out over her new do.
The popular Channel 7 weather presenter decided on a haircut two weeks ago, and discussed the matter with hair and make up departments, and the network’s news director.
“He got slightly cold feet about changing it over. But we decided to take off a little bit of hair each couple of days, so it wasn’t too much of a change for the audience.”
The stealth haircut happened over a week and a half, she said.
“I wanted it just off my shoulders,” Bunn said. “When I’m up there (on the News), and turn and point, it gets caught on the shoulder, so I wanted it up, fresh, new and exciting.”
Bunn said she didn’t want make a radical style change during uncertain times.
“If someone comes out ... looking very different all of a sudden, that could make people feel uncomfortable, or less at home,” Bunn said.
“That’s not what we want to do with people right now. We want to be a calming presence that you feel comfortable with. That’s why it was important to do the change slowly.”
