After a month of stinging international headlines over his matchmaking role in the affair between sacked Warner Bros chairman Kevin Tsujihara and actor Charlotte Kirk, embattled billionaire James Packer has retreated to US mountain resort town Aspen and the company of one of his most trusted friends, ex-wife Jodhi Meares.
Meares and a party of male friends arrived in Aspen last week to celebrate the fashion designer’s birthday, her 48th, along with Packer and his Canadian girlfriend Kylie Lim.

Also joining the party was Packer’s indispensable Aussie sidekick Ben Tilley and Meares’ LA music producer friend James Maas.
The group were photographed at an alfresco cafe where a distracted Packer seemed unwilling to lift his eyes from his phone to join the merry banter. As he rose to leave, his light clothing hinted at a medical device being worn near his chest.
His Australian representative was unable to confirm the nature of the protruding bulge on Saturday.
Meares’ Aspen trip coincides with the arrival in Sydney of Packer’s second ex-wife, Erica, who has spent this weekend showing off her new fiance, Cuban-born artist Enrique Martinez Celaya.
The radiant Erica, mother to Packer’s three children, was in Sydney to attend the 20th wedding anniversary celebration of good friends Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch.
