Candice Warner says her family’s positive spirit won’t be broken as she prepares to mark a significant milestone in Melbourne.

The Warners will spend Christmas here for the Boxing Day Test with Candice saying many family and friends will fly in to celebrate batsman David’s 100th test match.

The family has felt the weight of recent attention with Cricket Australia offering private security if they feel threatened after she was targeted with vile abuse by fans in Adelaide.

“Regardless of what goes on we live our lives in such a positive way,’’ Candice said.

“Whether it’s trying to be a positive influence to our kids, always seeing the positive out of every situation. I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to live that way. For us, it’s all about looking at the bright side of things and what we have is a great family unit with three beautiful healthy kids and what more would we want.”

Candice said her three daughters, Ivy, 8; Indi, 6, and Isla, 3, love cricket and would soak up the atmosphere at the MCG.

“This will be close to my 10th one, the only one we missed was in 2018,’’ Candice said.

“My girls don’t know Christmas other than it being in Melbourne so it’s a really special day for us. We open our presents just like everyone else and Santa comes to the MCG.

“Whilst David is in the nets batting the girls are on the field at the MCG playing with the other kids. The other players might bowl some balls to them and now that they’re into their cricket it’s a really special day for them. It almost tops whatever Santa can bring is that experience of playing cricket on the MCG.

“For them to be amongst the cricket players and be on the MCG and get to spend a special day with their Dad is priceless. Dave’s generally not around for birthdays and big occasions but he’s always here for Christmas so we really enjoy it. It’s a tradition of ours that we go down to Crown and every hour they have the nativity scene and ever since Ivy was a baby it’s a tradition we do with each other.”

A former ironwoman who has now turned to commentary, Candice is hosting Triple M’s Summer Breakfast along with Harley Breen and Tom Tilley.

“It’s nice to show a different side of me that people don’t often get to see,’’ she said.

“At the same time I feel like when I’m talking about sport, I was a pro ironwoman since I was 14, I had a career before I was with David and it’s just being able to share those stories and my opinions. Regardless of being David Warner’s wife I was a professional ironwoman and I’m also entitled to an opinion as is everyone else.

“I can talk about sport, interesting news topics. We’re just husband and wife and besides from that I’m doing Ironman commentary, I did commentary at the Olympics and if I was just someone’s partner I wouldn’t be getting the gig. I make sure I work hard, do my research and I’m across everything. Through my sport it’s given me a great work ethic, I’m really enjoying radio and people can see I work hard.”
