Melbourne rich-lister Adrian Portelli has made the bold claim his new business venture will become bigger than the company that helped make him a billionaire.

Portelli founded energy drink Flipside last year with Troy Candy, and last week announced the new look cans had been picked up by 7-Eleven.

Portelli believes the venture has the potential to become at least a six figure boom.

“The thing in the energy drink market is it’s such a competitive industry so if someone does breakthrough the noise and is a serious threat, it’s possible to make it something that’s scaleable globally,’’ Portelli said.

“Upon launch in four minutes we had $300,000 in checkouts and then our website crashed. It’s less work, less effort and better margins. We do most of it ourselves, marketing comes natural to us.”

Portelli’s LMCT+ shopping and rewards platform has been the key to building his fortune which has seen him gather a treasure trove of wealth.

With the Flipside he said he was “tired of the boring old options and needed something that could keep up with our crazy busy lives without the crash or junk.”

The drink is flying off shelves nationally and will no doubt shake up the industry.

“They said they’ve never such a push where people are rushing to the store and want to share and talk about it,’’ Portelli said.

Portelli, who runs several businesses, hit the headlines again last week for taking matters into his own hands when he turned up on the front doorstep of a man who allegedly broke into his $40m city penthouse.

He took to social media to relay news of the incident in which two men broke into his luxury apartment just 24 hours earlier.

CCTV of the break-in showed the men, who Portelli has since “named and shamed”, entering the high-rise dwelling along Exhibition St before setting their sights on one of his luxury cars — a $3m McLaren Senna GTR.

Portelli turned the tables on the duo with a vigilante take-down and lured the police to the house.
