How do you get nominated for a Logie?

LOGIES voters have delivered a diverse and eclectic list of Gold Logie nominees for the television industry’s premier night on July 1.

TV talent vying for gold, announced at the Logies new home on the Gold Coast yesterday, are real estate and lifestyle expert Andrew Winter (Foxtel’s Love It Or List It and Selling Houses Australia), broadcaster Amanda Keller (Ten’s The Living Room), actor Jessica Marais (Nine’s Love Child and Ten’s The Wrong Girl), Rodger Corser (Nine’s Doctor Doctor), presenter and journalist Tracy Grimshaw (Nine’s A Current Affair), game show host Grant Denyer (Ten’s Family Feud).

Winter’s nomination marks Foxtel’s first-ever Gold Logie nod.

“What an absolute honour and what a real compliment for all of us at Foxtel,” Winter said in a statement.

“This nomination is massive for a former real estate agent who never wanted to work in TV.”

However, TV Week, which runs the Logies, said Winter was absent from the nomination announcements on Sunday after he recently suffered an incident of Bell’s Palsy, a side effect to a virus condition that left half his face paralysed.

He told the magazine: “I’m sitting at home like a lazy ass just waiting for one side of my face to join the other side of my head.”

Veteran journalist Grimshaw said her nomination was a great honour and a thrill.

Grimshaw’s nomination followed a heavy promotional campaign by Nine. Denyer’s nod comes amid Ten’s plan to axe his game show.

“I would like to congratulate all this year’s nominees,” TV Week editor Thomas Woodgate said at the nominations announcement event at Nineteen at The Star.

“The list proves what an exceptional year of TV we have enjoyed.”
