Pop country singer Maren Morris says Keith Urban is to thank for her big success
AMERICAN pop country singer of the moment Maren Morris credits an Aussie singing superstar with giving her a start. Now she is set to tour around Australia next month supporting former One Direction member Niall Horan.

AMERICAN pop country singer of the moment Maren Morris credits Keith Urban with giving her a start.
Part of a wave of country crossover artists dominating the charts at the moment, Morris will tour Australia supporting Niall Horan next month.
“Keith is the first artist to give me an opening slot on a major tour, so I love Keith,” Morris told Confidential. “He is a good guy.”
Urban tracked fellow Nashville-based Morris down after hearing some of her demos.
“He told his booking agent he wanted ‘that girl on tour with me,’ ” she said.
“That was my first time ever in arenas so I learnt how to put on a show to that size crowd from him.”
Morris, 28, is currently enjoying success with The Middle, a collaboration with Zeddand Grey.
Other country artists on the pop charts at the moment include Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s collaboration Meant To Be, and Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton’s track, Say Something.
“When these songs were being recorded I don’t think any of these artists thought they’d be doing these country collaborations,” Morris said.
“Once The Middle came out, it was so cool to see artists like Chris Stapleton and Florida Georgia Line at the top of the charts with these amazing pop artists.
“I don’t know if it will ever happen again this way — there are so many country artists being played on pop radio at the same moment.
“It is very cool to be a part of that right now.”
Morris will play at Qudos Bank Arena on June 5.
She and Horan met when she provided vocals on his track Seeing Blind.
“I am a fan of his and One Direction so I loved putting my vocals on his song.”
