Former AFL boss and new Tabcorp CEO Gillon McLachlan looked on like a “proud dad” as Kylie Rogers stepped out for the first time as the new Victoria Racing Club CEO.
Rogers worked under McLachlan as the AFL’s commercial lead and has switched codes, wearing a broad smile at her maiden official function, the VRC Spring Gala at Crown Melbourne.
“I’m like a proud dad, I really am,” McLachlan said.
“She’s done so well, she’ll be amazing in the role and I’m her largest client. It’s been good for me so far, settling well into the new job.”
Rogers was joined by VRC Chairman Neil Wilson, VRC board member Ann Peacock and event hosts Richard Wilkins and Catriona Rowntree.
Style and fashion ambassador Demi Brereton said she’s in a good place after a break up with North Melbourne star Jy Simpkin. She travelled to Royal Ascot for the first time a few months ago.
“I’m great, really good,” Brereton said.
“Busy now which is good. I came home at the right time with everything going on. The fashion is so different there, more laid back and big hats. It was really cool to see.
“I want to be single for a while and I’m enjoying doing my thing.”
Other guests included Kris Smith and wife Sarah, Olivia Rogers with stylist Paul Versace, Michelle Payne, Tim Kano, Elly Wicks, Kate Watts and Crystal Kimber-Peters.
Marcia Hines performed for guests.
