Former Essendon captain Jobe Watson and partner Virginia Slaghekke have announced the birth of their son, Wolf Odin Watson.
The couple shared the happy news on Sunday with adorable pictures of their newborn on Instagram. They welcomed a girl, Juniper Hendricks Watson, in September 2018.
Jobe wrote: “Wolf Odin Watson. Unfortunately mate, I think you look more like your dad than your mum!”
Ms Slaghekke, who moved to Australia after the couple met in New York in 2016, announced she was expecting their second child on Mother’s Day this year.
She wrote along with a blue love heart: “Wolf Odin Watson – no words, just pure bliss.”
When she posted a picture of her ultrasound in May, she wrote: “Joining the squad this November.”
Ms Slaghekke joined Channel 7 footy commentator Watson in Melbourne more than two years ago, applying for an exchange program as part of her biomedical degree.
“It’s been quite good falling in love with someone from Australia. It could have been a lot worse,” she said last year when the couple were ambassadors for the Caulfield Cup carnival.
Watson, the son of Essendon legend Tim Watson, is now in property management and a buyer’s advocate.
Ms Slaghekke said she had a close bond with the family.
“Jobe’s family is just amazing,” she said. “I’ve become very close with his family. There are a lot of coffee drop-ins (from his parents around the corner).”
